A composer by the name of Jim Wilson has recorded the sound of crickets and then slowed down the recording, revealing something so amazing: the crickets sound like they are singing the most beautiful chorus in perfect harmony. Though you may think it is human voices, everything you hear in this recording is in-fact crickets themselves!

Congratulations to the Ronninge Show Chorus from Sweden--shown here from their 2011 appearance at contest--who recently were named the 2014 International Champion Chorus for Sweet Adelines International. Joining winners of other contests who are from Canada and the United States, Ronninge's win truly puts the "international" in Sweet Adelines International!

Not only did Ronninge capture first place, they were also voted the Audience Choice Award and the Celebrity Judge Award, a rare triple crown win. Truly outstanding barbershop!

Chorus Contest Finals Results

As Pride of Portland members know, singing together can be an indescribable experience, uniting the chorus in a way that is somehow both exhilarating and calming. And now, scientists have discovered that singing with a group can actually slow down and synchronize the heartbeats of singers!

A team of Swedish researchers led by Björn Vickhoff discovered that this synchronicity can produce a sense of calm that is similar to the effects of yoga. To learn more, click here.

Scoring 701 and winning First Place Chorus, Pride of Portland joined the elite ranks of Master Chorus.  This was accomplished during the final Region 24 Competition held in Boise, Idaho, April 2013.

With this regional win, Director Ryan Heller attained the honored Master 700 Director level. Presently there are only twelve Sweet Adeline Directors wearing the Master 700 Director pin.
