I joined Sweet Adelines in 1988 after completing my nine-year bachelor's degree while continuing to work and raise children (they were preteens at that point -- help!). I knew I needed an outlet for myself. My family needed me to have a creative outlet, too! I'd always sung in middle and high school, and it seemed there wasn't an opportunity to continue singing as an adult till I saw an ad "looking for altos".
Here I am 25 years later. In these past years, I have had the privilege of learning a great deal of music, challenged myself by singing different parts, learned much about music in general and the American music genre of Barbershop. I’ve gained confidence in singing in a quartet (so much fun!), and diving into wonderful opportunities to expand my skills by volunteering to serve on the chorus' management and music team, as well as the Regional faculty team and Regional management team.
And then there are the incredible friendships....
