Come to A'Cappella Academy 2017 for an awesome one-day camp experience jam packed with education and fun. You'll learn from world class faculty, network with fellow young singers from around the area and wow your community with your performance on our huge Saturday night show.
Open to all high school and collegiate singers and music educators of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Become an "A'Cappella Ninja" as you experience the amazing art form of 4-part barbershop harmony, or what Deke calls "the martial arts of a'cappella singing" because it is so challenging and requires singers to really hone their skills!
This exciting all-day workshop will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, and is open to all high school and collegiate singers and music educators. Attendees will receive music and learning tracks in advance of the workshop and well as a whole day of vocal education, lunch, dinner, an ACA 2017 shirt and admission to our fantastic Saturday night show.
This unique educational experience will immerse young people in the joy of singing vocal harmonies in the barbershop style and introduce them to some of the best vocal coaching in the nation. Students will learn vocal production, balance and blend, vowel matching, tuning, synchronization, choreography and showmanship skills. Choral teachers, this workshop will strengthen your students' skills for any type of vocal application: choirs, ensembles, jazz groups, etc. Bring your students to this outstanding workshop!
Clinicians for the day will be two award-winning directors: Kathy Scheel, Master Director of Oregon Spirit Chorus, and Ryan Heller, Master Director 700 of Pride of Portland Chorus. International Medalist Quartets GQ and Flipside will be the featured teaching quartets for the day. In addition, the 6th Place International Medalist Chorus, Pride of Portland, will present a one-hour master class as part of the day's education.
